Possible tourney idea?
Challenger Elimination Tourney
Point System
Unlike previous tournaments, this will not be a standard elimination-based tournament. This year's tournament will be using a point-based system. Each participant will be allocated 10 points at the beginning of the tournament. These points will be used whenever you fight in a challenge match (more on these later).
How do these points work?
Your points are what keep you in the tournament, they are used when you fight in challenger matches. The loser of any match will have a set amount of points deducted, similarly the winner of a match will be awarded a set amount of points.
What happens if I lose all my points?
Any participant that reaches 0 points will be eliminated from the tournament. This means that you should use your use (accepting/declining/issuing) challenges wisely to keep your points up.
Challenger Matches
Any contestant of the same rank may issue a challenge to another contestant at any time. Before the fight the challenger may issue a wager of a chosen amount of point. The contestant being challenged has TWO options: 1- they can refuse the points wager in which case the challenger can issue another wager which cannot be refused and MUST be less than the original wager or 2- they can refuse the challenge down right which results in a 1 point lose and CANNOT be challenged again that day by that challenger. Challengers CANNOT be refused twice in a row. Contestants CANNOT be challenged by the same contestant in the same day.
** Staff must announce a global to began any challenges or they do not count.**
Tournament Rules
1. If you rank up after you have already registered you will automatically disqualified. Ranking up is NOT an option after you have registered, if you plan to rank up do it BEFORE you register.
2. All matches will be watched by a staff member. If a participant is found battle holding, it will result in the loss of that round.
3. Any glitching, bug abuse, or otherwise obtaining an unfair advantage will result in full elimination from the tournament.
4. Any contestants unable to participate as a result of a game ban will result in automatic disqualification from the tournament.
5. If you attack your opponent before given permission via Global message, you will automatically lose that round and be deducted 1 point.
6. Each participant of the tournament will receive Godly Aura!
Two weeks of aura will be applied to all contestants of the tournament. ** This idea is useful to even playing fields and bring in contestants. **

I could just challenge people away and they will either lose a point or decline a lose a point...this is in the stronger person's favor as it should be in some cases, but this is unfair to weaker peeps.

Agreed I foresaw that so I added a once per person challenge each day and 2 options to preserve points as well as a way to prevent consistently denying some to not lose points. SO in other words if everyone denied your challenge day one they had to fight you on day two. Which would suck but you can't avoid fighting the OP fighters in each rank and they deserve to be able to have some fun too.

Just a bit of coding and a particular non-attacking square (tournament spar only [more coding]) would probably be easiest. But key factor is -coding-.

Well for that Oro I can literally use a word document on my computer with a list of contestants (which would be pre-written as of end of registration for ease) and write down who fought who that day....would mean communication and possible same tactic with each mod but easily doable and shouldn't need any coding I believe.

Re: Possible tourney idea?
I like the idea of wagering points. Though it would be a difficulty for any high wagers to be accepted from both parties unless they considered one another weaker or around same strength. or its setup for someone to lose all there points to one person. hence giving them a considerable advantage.
Possibly a way around this is having a max wager allowed say 4 points or something (something to be discussed) and only one match per player allowed?
Issuing challenges may be a problem. I think it would have to be coded similair to seat challenges. If its not the player might be afk and miss out and lose points or simply pretend to be afk to avoid challenges. with seat challenges there is multiple attempts maybe upto 3 of initiating challenge if ignored for a set amount of time (maybe 5 or 10 mins) counts as a decline and 3 declines in 1 day to a person results in a loss of 1`point to said person.
I hope this all makes sense as im just writing it as it comes to mind.
I think if they accept the challenge it might be offered at the max 4 points but they may counter offer down or up with acception having a minimum of 2. so its riskier to fight but the gains are bigger then just declining and accepting 1 point penalty.

Re: Possible tourney idea?
Yeah I hear ya and been thinking about how the wagers will work all day. Was thinking of maybe 50%-75% or less of your total points as the initial wager and nerfing the second wager limit to 50% or less of the original wager. I thought about allowing the challenged to counter wager but that presents a problem in it's own right. Let's say you challenge someone you know you will lose to to avoid the Second day challenge rule...if counter offers were allowed then they could just destroy you by a loophole in the rules so this way if you get challenged you are at the initial mercy of the challenger kinda like hunter versus hunted if that makes sense but glad to see another saw the same possible exploit with points. :P
