Okay, world of bleach Players and Staff, here's the topic: WoB Idiocy.
Looking at the title of this, most would assume i was just trolling the game. Those who know me as a person rather than a username, should know better.

My issue here isn't so much as how good or bad i personally think the game is, but how good or bad the game itself is being treated and handled by both the players and it's staff members.
That mentioned, i'd like to say before i begin this Complaint\Rant\Suggestive information, that this in no way is meant to make any Player or Staff member feel incabable or unintelligent. It is simply what i have noticed in my opinion that is making WoB less of the game that i know it can be. That's it.

Note: My way of speaking is my own and can be interpretted as such, but it's not intended to be offensive. If it was, i'd spend my great ammounts of non-college time to bark at you all personally in Pm's, responsibly taking ban afterwards like the boss i am.

For starters, if your an older player logging in after vacation or quitting (or whatever you happened to be doing that kept you from murdering others,) you would notice that the game itself as changed.

Moves, Gains, Premium Choices, etc.
All rearranged to suit Lsm's vision and newer player's levelling, or even perhaps a deeper meaning hidden from sight.
This has driven away quite a few older Players, caused newer players to have greater advantages and a lower cost system, making shards and other things older players worked for seem either pointless - or just not as great of an acomplishment.
As an added kick to the gutt, the updates have consistantly caused a fountain of glitches or mistakes that should not have happened; such as stat gain mishaps, dissapearing currency, click notification nagging, travel issues, AI issues,  unfair banning, and many others.
On top of this, Staff in general become confused about updates and rules, or other things, because mistakes were made, they weren't informed, or...sad to say...they just don't care to look or even allow themselves to correct their errors honorably.

Apart from the other issues that could easily be fixed and prevented with several suggestions i had made in the past (Which i will list below for reference anyway,) Staff are hard to converse with about such things because they are either too busy, uncaring, or big headed about their lettuce and fruit punch colors. Not to say Staff are bad...but because it is just hard to catch them, and i have seen multiple occasions where i had Pm'd a staff or two and received the "I'm busy at the moment" or "I'll work on it". Then, knowing i lurk in social ALOT or simply threaten people (slightly playfully,) i will watch them chill in it too, for one not fixing said problem and for two - obviously not busy.

My general complaint is that certain players who apply for a staff position should be given a limit of time to...what would be the word..."Prove" themselves under a special staff label called 'In-Training'.
This would allow higher-ups to watch them handle players, and to memorize game rules and such, as well as the punnishments for the breaking of said rules.
This would also allow more Game-educated and capable Staff that Players can feel more trusting twoards and higher-ups won't have to worry so much with them on the job...hopefully.
This will  make for Staff in general to have rules themselves, such as checking the rules, manual, and game things once every three weeks or so. This way, they can help players, notice things, and fix them on the off chance something in-game may be off ballance or out of sync.

This  leads on to my next suggestion as far as Staff-Related game issues; Game Testers.
This allows certain mods to test out game features an Admin could be implementing; such as the boss battles, layouts, moves, races, etc.
In turn, avoiding many of the buggy circumstances Players are forced to suffer.

The next thing we could do, hopefully, is allow Players the option of doing a "Staff Demotion" meaning if more than, say, ten or fifteen Players mark a staff by clicking said icon and submitting good reasons why, that staff is then removed. This only applies to mods, of course. However i also propose that mods have a similar option for higher-ups, but not Lsm of course - since where the heck would we be without him. Living, i dare say??

Anyway, putting Staff aside, lets focus on the Players.
With the new generations pouring through, we up our anti in the game, and often times become over run with Players who, with all do respect, don't know or care to do anything but flaunt useless groups and families, troll others with groups and random social posts, as well as more signifigant things; Making a fraccion lose points becoming espada, becoming king (if Dorm and Jin quit one day...) and abusing such power, etc.

This makes me wonder how Players and Staff could stop this wreckage that is happening or could be soon to come. My solutions?
Voting. (Cuz this be a stray-mocracy fools, not a political vomit of shiz!)
Similar to Staff demotions, if not the same. Don't like how your rulers are ruling?
Vote for them to be off for a temporary ammount of time so another can take their place. A certain number of votes can do it, not just one or two.
As far as spams and trolls; while there is a block, some may just be playfully trolling, and can be perceived as annoying, therefore i figured a "switch trolls" would be a cool addition in social. Anyone on the list you deem as unamusing or trolling alot can be put here, similar to black listing, but different in that unchecking the check box allows them to be seen easily, and without removing the name. This could just be a black list option too...what do you guys think?

Other suggestions i have to add to the game's style are more twoards the game itself.
I understand many features were made, but what about features that give each Player control over said feature. My thoughts are that along with the game's system, and the journal and avy options, Players may like a bit more centered customazation options...

Groups
:: Groups will be something you no longer have to just have a siggy for. A slot could be at the settings, along with a little icon or sprite like image if wanted, where you type in the name, add the image, and your proclaimed title.
Groups could also be used in PvP if decided a good enough idea. Adding extra gains, etc.
I know that with Barracks it may be strange, but it would make having Groups more fun than they actually are. A notification goes to the group leader to accept or deny before showing. They could even have a top groups page...Member limits and auras may play a part but...meh. Good or bad?

Family
:: I figured instead of listing your WoB family in the journal, it could be similar to the groups option above, and have a slot. Type in a family member and their place, and there you have it! Of course, after entered, a notification will be sent to said player so they can accept or deny this before it shows.
As far as family, i figured a boost on souls\yen and exp. would be cool when beating them. Since you learn much...and they paid for your meals as a widdle huge hollow ~ <3

Rivals
:: Rivals could be limited to two players. Same as above, notification, blah blah blah.
My thought here is a bonus PvP gain when winning fights with them, as well as extra spar gains.
This would both strengthen rival bonds in game, and put a real feeling of competitiveness in battle. Rivals are awsome!

[b]Rival Barracks\Squads[\b] [\i]:: This allows to put WoB's grid based PvP to the max. Each squad and barracks may only have TWO rivals, and anyone in said squad or barracks will provide gains as if fighting the opposite race, but. So if you receive 7 race points, you would get...say...2 and a PvP point, etc. get it? Figured this would be good to get barracks and sqauds active as well as both working together and learning each others fighting styles. Team building for gains, yay~!

All those ideas over with, i'll end this here for debate. I have more ideas, but i wanna know majority of responses for this giant set. Thanks for reading!

For groups it makes a kind of sense, seeing that the squads would separate into groups when patrolling or, for example, when the Ryoka broke into SS.

Rivals, I like. Would provide more motivation for training.

Exactly! Motivation = More fun, i think.
And yes, Groups could be however they wish. Game based or a simple wolf pack *coughs twice*

WoB Idiocy ::: Would you like a side of suggestions with that? Empty Some insight from me

Post by Haruchi Fri Apr 24, 2015 7:55 pm

Right, a thread so important it had me frantically searching for my password in order to comment.  Monocle

My general complaint is that certain players who apply for a staff position should be given a limit of time to...what would be the word..."Prove" themselves under a special staff label called 'In-Training'. --

Snipped the remains, but: each new staff member is strictly supervised by both their peers as well as their superiors. The first few weeks are considered as a "trial run". Many an accepted applicant have been demoted during this period for different reasons, mainly not being suitable after all. So this is basically being done but behind the scenes: different "rankings" of moderators were considered (junior, senior), but thinking of it now I can imagine it just leading to "ya u just nob i want a real mod who KNOWS wat theyre DOING??!?!" whenever a "junior" or "in-training" moderator attempts to do their job. It was a valid concern from you, however.

This will  make for Staff in general to have rules themselves, such as checking the rules, manual, and game things once every three weeks or so.

Now I will speak for myself, but I'm pretty sure this applies to especially newly hired staff members as well: because of how many times a player attempts to refute a warning, be it verbal or official one, I always had the Rule page open. Both for quick doublecheck before issuing a warning and especially ban, as well as to be ready to copy/paste and explain a rule. Each time Rules section was updated, Hitori made sure to drill the new version into everyone's heads - I'm sure Mavis will keep this tradition up.

Judging from this you may be surprised to hear there actually is a development server with people to test new features before they are implemented. Suffering is a heavy word for it, wouldn't exactly put it as such if there is an unremoveable global or whathaveyou.

Nevertheless, been considering spicing up the testing process, though:

1. Make a list of test cases ("go to profile", "exchange AP", "purchase AP", etc.). Seemingly very minor tasks, but important. Run the new update wholly through these test cases.

The next thing we could do, hopefully, is allow Players the option of doing a "Staff Demotion" meaning if more than, say, ten or fifteen Players mark a staff by clicking said icon and submitting good reasons why, that staff is then removed.

Nah. Let's say I want to get rid of a staff member. Let's pretend I am in such good terms with enough players and have enough influence for the rest to sway them to my cause with BS reasons. Me and my posse submit about 3-6 "valid" reasons as a group of 12 people. Mavis and Hitori see this, and begin investigating. Now, this is not any different from submitting a PM or a Support Ticket about a staff member - and there is my point. The main difference here is that if a group of players that is large enough can basically vote for a staff member they dislike and cause a hell of a headache and time waste, in worst case.

A staff member is doing a lazy job/abusing their position/being a complete derp  -> Support Ticket or PM to Mavis/Hitori depending on their position.

Note: Even if you are SUSPECTING a staff member of something, PM or Support Ticket.

-- Players who, with all do respect, don't know or care to do anything but flaunt useless groups and families, troll others with groups and random social posts, as well as more signifigant things; Making a fraccion lose points becoming espada, becoming king (if Dorm and Jin quit one day...) and abusing such power, etc.

Similar to Staff demotions, if not the same. Don't like how your rulers are ruling?

Personal opinion here: I agree it's not quite fair to have a bunch of players stuck in a fraccion/squad that is being led by an asstrumpet who wastes their points "for the lolz". Judging from how the group dynamics have been working in the squads and fraccions (bases on social lurking really), I'm leaning towards voting being a possible solution. It would need some fleshing out, though.

-- "switch trolls" would be a cool addition in social. Anyone on the list you deem as unamusing or trolling alot can be put here, similar to black listing, but different in that unchecking the check box allows them to be seen easily, and without removing the name. This could just be a black list option too...what do you guys think?

Weeehhh from my experiences blacklist works fine. I do understand the "Oooohhh but they might say something reportable so Imma bust their ass off!" mentality though - I have the same. Jugglywuggly

Groups :: Groups will be something you no longer have to just have a siggy for. A slot could be at the settings, along with a little icon or sprite like image if wanted, where you type in the name, add the image, and your proclaimed title.
Groups could also be used in PvP if decided a good enough idea. Adding extra gains, etc.

From UI sketching side, do'able. There is enough empty space in the profiles for this in the form of a group signature - and honestly, I know how popular all the little groups are on WoB. I can imagine many of you would honestly like this: it may be a small tweak, but it's a nice touch. Sincere thumbs up for this one. At least if you guys woul be fine with a group sig.

Family :: I figured instead of listing your WoB family in the journal, it could be similar to the groups option above, and have a slot.

Putting my personal distaste for RP families to the side. This makes me think of one question, that applies to groups as well: how many groups and family members can a person have?

The profile page space isn't infinite neither on when viewing another player, nor your own profile. I won't comment on boost, but I'd see this more as an RP thing, which would not give any benefits.

Rivals :: Rivals could be limited to two players. Same as above, notification, blah blah blah.
My thought here is a bonus PvP gain when winning fights with them, as well as extra spar gains.
This would both strengthen rival bonds in game, and put a real feeling of competitiveness in battle. Rivals are awsome!

Nah. See, okay: two players intentionally marking themselves as rivals just to get stats and whatnot faster. Nah. Maybe if it had just a record of losses and wins against this person, maybe then.

Those are my thoughts on this thread for now. Will take a look at others now when I'm logged in.

Post by straywolf174 Sat Apr 25, 2015 1:36 am

To start off, thank you for such a lengthy and - slightly mind opening, - response, Haruchi.
I appreciate it greatly and honestly wish to speak of certain topics more through pretty, long and blood-spattered fleshy pm's.

That said, i remember a "sand box" being created awhile ago, in which i played around with for the heck of it because, despite being supervised as an Admin, i truly saw it as a playground at the time. That said, if it has become or unknowingly, already took place as the actual testing site, then wonderful!
So long as the game is taken by the neck will it prosper.

I was not aware at the time of writing this that certain things were put in place, be it the sand box or other things. Lack of research or lack of answers put asside for now, i  will apologise for the seemingly judgmental parts, but as i said, it only seems as such. My nature is as my nature will be, and my desire is only for the humble succsession of WoB (lol, ryhmes...).

On to staff titles; I can most definatley see your point, and while it pains me, i know that it would probably happen constantly, so looking back, it was not the best idea.
And on the subject of staff voting, Admins would always have a final say, but you are right on this as well if i were to think a bit more ahead on the mechanics. Not to soud arrogant, but i am absolute in my thinking as far as making this suggestion work if studied and putting in more variables and\or control groups, but it would undoubtedly become a headache in both thinking it, and implementing it, as you stated. So i am terribly sorry this turned into an improper suggestion. When writing, it seemed like something worth trying, to allow for a more closely knit enviroment of staff and players, but perhaps i was thinking on a wrong angle...

When i mentioned Squad\Fracc voting, please do not misunderstand my intention. I am a very big beleiver in earning your rank and title, etc.
However, voting is not meant to steal seats, as it is to make it vacant for a period of time, or allow for a better ruler to actually do right for their said barracks. If the player removed returns, you most likely should NOT be able to vote again for awhile, instead, be humane and speak, or simply become stronger. The voting is just to allow the group some form of help if the ruler refuses to give unto them.

As far as the group signature, this would be quite a joy to hear it implemented. Despite being a bit saddened by hearing the other two would not work, with more thought, i can think of reasons why, and i am just thrilled you deemed one of them good enough. I only hope others follow suit.

As an after note, my entire intention of these suggestions was soley to promote a more fair, closely knit, battle ready WoB. I wanted to suggest things, such as the gains-groups, to make players want to run about kyoto as they once did. Want to work in teams, not be afraid to challenge others levels above them, etc.

For people to join, and be engulfed in a familial, pvp absorbed game with which could become a seccond home if loved enough. Even the staff suggestions were put as a ballancing act, just to get trust between members, in a sense. Perhaps this was a bad way to enforce the dream but...i am still going to plan out other things which might be better. Thanks to all staff and players who clicked this, and thanks again Haruchi, for caring enough to give a wealth of information as you have!

If you are thinking of the "Party Server", I think it is now replaced by an actual testing place where the coding of new features is first done, then imported to live server. I would actually recommend discussing with Lsm if you could be granted access there as it is closed from majority of players. o/)

When i mentioned Squad\Fracc voting, please do not misunderstand my intention. I am a very big beleiver in earning your rank and title, etc.

No no, I do agree with it actually. I can imagine a cooldown timer for voting itself. On my mind is also a cooldown timer for the person who actually got voted out: 24 hours of not being able to claim a seat, for example. Would give 24 hours of relief to those with a horseface as a seated person. One thing I can see Lsm being concerned with is the seat item: "I spent x amount of money on seat item and these trolls voted me out help Bjergsm :<". Honestly nah, their fault for being a butt.

As far as the group signature, this would be quite a joy to hear it implemented. Despite being a bit saddened by hearing the other two would not work, with more thought, i can think of reasons why, and i am just thrilled you deemed one of them good enough. I only hope others follow suit.

The other two could work, though with a bit of re-sketching. They do fall under this category of "No Practical Use To Players" kind of suggestions just like squad/fraccion themes:

https://worldofbleach-forum.rpg-board.net/t2231-the-gotei-13-divisions-specializations-in-game

Haruchi wrote:I honestly love this idea. I don't know how canon it is and I am aware not everything has to be canon, hence some things can be tweaked around.

But this right here profiles squads and fraccions further than being the exact same thing with a different number and people only. If I still was a player, I would love to be torn apart by the option of being in Espada 2 or Espada 4 or perhaps Espada 1 or no, definitely Espada 10. This could add a flavor of RPG-style into the game which frankly could be used.

I don't know about the boosts nor their percentages, but seeing this thing - the concepts behind the squads and espadas - written out really makes me happy.

But, Lsm has hella low priority on these kinds of suggestions despite of them bringing so much needed flavour ARGH. 8C

Nah, I always like to read walls of text suggestions, be it one well-fleshed out one or several, smaller ideas each with potential. Adoration
